Isle of Mull Baskets
I make sculptures, traditional/contemporary baskets and woven pieces using home grown willow, hazel, reeds, grasses.
I make traditional and contemporary baskets and woven wall pieces using willow, hazel, reeds, grasses & leaves grown in the south end of Mull. I also use willow grown on the Somerset levels which gives my baskets their distinctive colours and patterns. There are many living willow structures on the Island I’ve made and last year I lead a community project called ‘Coming Home’ making willow figures representing a way of life from the past. These sculptures are now sited at Tiroran Community Forest. Mini activity packs are available for those rainy days to entertain bored children. I’ve a selection of baskets for sale at South West Mull Makers but also make to order.
