Through intense abstract acrylics, I seek to capture the energy of the sea, land and wind that shapes my view of Mull. These paintings do not try to be actual portrayals but rather they seek to frame the experiences in snapshot form of what are fleeting moments. Based in Tobermory, Isle of Mull, I have observed the land from the sea through 15 years of sailing on the west coast with my family. The perspective of the moving platform on the sea is different from the steady stance on land. At sea, your perspective is constantly shifting and foreground, view and sky inter-mesh in inexplicable visual complexity. It is that energy that is then brought into the paintings seen from the land.
