Iona enjoys a cultural significance far beyond its size. We try to honour that with the work that we make and display, whether it’s referencing the elaborate designs found on ancient stone carvings and illuminated manuscripts, or the incredible light, colour and geology studied by scores of visiting painters. Iona is often described as a “special” place, and Iona Craft Shop endeavours to live up to that. As well as displaying artists and makers from a wide variety of disciplines, we work with organisations like An Tobar to deliver musical performances throughout the year.

We are also home to Iona Wool, a project transforming the island’s sheep fleece into high quality knit yarns, garments and accessories, and now Iona Tweed – a beautiful cloth woven just 8 miles away at Ardalanish Mill.
